Tau Volunteer Program



Religious Community Name and location: School Sisters of St. Francis, Milwaukee, WI

Mission/Charism; Our mission is to live the Good News of Jesus and witness to the presence of God as we enter into the lives and needs of people around the world, especially the poor. We are to be a source of new life, new meaning and hope.

Short term (3-12 month) volunteer service program

Name of program: Tau Volunteer Program

Mission/Core values: service, community, and spirituality.

Volunteer requirements: Post graduate, women of faith, 21 years or older; both skills and service-oriented ready to volunteer full-time; interested in living with sisters, sharing community life, growing in understanding and serving people on the margins. Must be of good general health (physical, emotional, spiritual, and mental).

Type of service placements: adult literacy, education for adults and children, ESL, health care, senior care, art, homelessness shelter and outreach, soup kitchen, administrative support, ministry to immigrants and a border mission

Living and financial arrangements: We are able to provide full room and board, local transportation, inclusion in community life, spiritual direction, and lessons in simple living. Volunteers are responsible, at this time, for their transportation to and from service sites, health insurance, and personal expenses.

Other program specifics: flexible, year round start/finish service dates; we are able to plan a specific, yet flexible service term for volunteers.
